Wildfire Prepared Home (IBHS)

Wildfire Prepared Home is a designation from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, a research body funded by the insurance industry. It has two levels: the base designation and Wildfire Prepared Home Plus, which adds requirements around the structure itself.

Unlike a Fire Hazard Severity Zone, which describes the land, this describes the house and its immediate surroundings, and it is earned rather than assigned. An independent evaluator approved by IBHS inspects the property, and IBHS grants the designation.

Some carriers recognise the designation in their underwriting or rating. Whether yours does, and what it is worth, is a question for that carrier.

CertiDwell is not affiliated with or endorsed by IBHS and cannot grant, verify or renew a designation. Only IBHS and its approved evaluators can. What software can do is show how close a property is to the published standard and which evidence is still missing.
